Ask Seller Button privacy policy

Ask Seller Button ("the app", "we") is an app for Wix stores that lets shoppers ask the seller about a product. This policy explains what data the app uses and why. By using the app, you agree to this policy.

Data from shoppers

• When a shopper sends a question, the app stores what the shopper enters: name, email, phone number if the store asks for it, and the question, together with the options the shopper selected on the product page (like size or color), the product, the time and the shopper's language.
• These questions are stored in a data collection on the store's own Wix account, not on servers of ours, and only the store owner and the store's collaborators can see them in the app dashboard.
• The app uses this data only to pass the question to the store owner. It does not send emails or messages to shoppers; the store owner answers them directly.
• To limit spam, the app counts recent questions by email and product. It does not use captcha, cookies or tracking.

Data from store owners

• Settings (where the button shows, chosen products, button text, the phone field and alert switches) are stored in a data collection on the site's Wix account. They are public, because the button on product pages needs them.
• The app reads product names and links from the store catalog (Read Products) to show them with questions, instead of trusting what the visitor's browser sends.
• When a new question arrives, the app can send a notification to the store owner through Wix (Manage Notifications): the dashboard and the Wix app, with the shopper's name and the product.
• The app also reads the site owner's email address from Wix (Read Site Owner Email) and sends the owner an email about the new question through Wix Email Transmissions (Manage Email Marketing). The email contains the product, the shopper's name, email, phone if given, selected options and the question, and its Reply-To is the shopper's email, so a reply goes to the shopper. The email is in the site's language. The app does not store the owner's address. The store owner can turn off the email and the notification separately in the app settings.
• The app reads the app plan from Wix to apply plan limits. It does not store it.
• If you ask Aria about questions, the app returns settings, counts and the latest questions of the current site to Aria inside Wix, without shoppers' names, emails, phones or question texts. Aria can only read, not change anything.

We do not sell data and we do not use it for advertising.

Where data is processed

The app runs on Wix hosting, and data stays in the site's Wix account. Wix acts as our service provider. If you email us, we use your message and address only to answer you.

Retention, access and deletion

Questions stay on the site until the store owner deletes them in the app dashboard. Copies of emails stay in the owner's mailbox. Shoppers who want their question deleted should contact the store. Removing the app takes the button off the site; Wix may keep or delete the app's data collections under its own rules. To ask a question about your data, email us.
